Researchers of the Academy of Physical Education in Poznań describe the influence of dance on the health of seniors

Scientists of the Academy of Physical Education in Poznań have published the article “Body adaptation to Dance: A Gerontological Perspective” in the journal “Aging and Disease”. The text was based on the analysis of research on the positive impact of dance on the ability to learn and remember, fluency of speech, as well as on physical fitness in the elderly people.

The publication was created in cooperation with scientists from the Brazilian Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, the English University of Coventry, the Medical University in Poznań, the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and the University of Rzeszów.

The aim of the authors was to summarize the current results of scientific research and indicate new issues. The existing knowledge confirms that dance supports healing and is a method of prevention and health care for the elderly. It also has a positive effect on mental health, thanks to the improvement of cognitive abilities and as a group activity.
