Researchers of the West Pomeranian University of Technology developed a lock to protect against coronavirus

21.12.2020

Scientists of the department of mechanical engineering and mechatronics of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin have developed a lock that will help combat the coronavirus. The device scans the face, measures the temperature and blows a mist of disinfectant liquid directly onto the hands and clothes. It also decides on its own to let the tested person enter the public utility facility.

An important aspect of the system is the ability to collect materials in the form of photos with a description of the temperature and the date of entry into the premises of the controlled facility. The system can also be equipped with an RFID card reader.

Szczecin researchers took three months to develop an integrated mechatronic system to control the entrance to public facilities. The device was created thanks to a grant under the project “Socially responsible Proto_lab” of the Regional Operational Program of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship 2014-2020.
