Scholar of Faculty of Philology of the University of Gdańsk nominated for “Nike 2020”

The novel “Disappearing” by Izabela Morska, professor of the philological faculty of the University of Gdańsk was among the final twenty nominees for the “Nike” 2020 Literary Award.

“Disappearing” is a novel published in 2020 by the Znak publishing house, which crosses the borders of autobiography and combines medical investigation, intervention report and a philosophical treatise on illness.

Izabela Morska is a writer, essayist, columnist, and poet. She published in “bruLion”, “Czas Kultury”, “Odra”, “Ośka”, “Ex Librisie”, “Kwartalnik Artystyczny” and “Gazeta Wyborcza”. She is a graduate of Mills College in California in the field of English literature and creative writing. Since 2009, she has been working at the Institute of English and American Studies at the University of Gdańsk, where she teaches critical writing and thinking, American culture and literature in English. In 2018 she received the Julian Tuwim Literary Award for lifetime achievement.
