Scholar of the University of Silesia analyzing Fryderyk Chopin’s mazurkas

Dr Grzegorz Niemczuk, pianist from the Institute of Musical Arts of the University of Silesia is implementing the online project researching the Fryderyk Chopin’s mazurkas. The essence of the project is the recording of 57 films about all Chopin’s mazurkas, analyzing their musical, folk, pianistic, technical and formal aspects.

The project obtained a three-month financing from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the scholarship program “Culture in the Web”. Until the end of October, every Saturday on YouTube and the artist’s Facebook page, two new episodes about mazurkas will be published.

Dr Niemczuk is a classical pianist who during his 15-year international career performed over 400 recitals and concerts in 34 countries on 6 continents. He is the winner of many piano competitions – including International Carnegie Hall Concerto Debut Competition and the 40th Polish National Piano Competition F. Chopin in Warsaw.
