Scientist from the University of Warsaw becomes the Ombudsman for Human Rights

The Polish Senate of the Republic of Poland approved the election of Prof. Marcin Wiącek from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw (UW) as Ombudsman for Human Rights.

Dr Marcin Wiącek is the head of the Human Rights Department at the Institute of Legal and Administrative Sciences at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. He is an expert in constitutional law, author of important scientific publications on constitutional law, constitutional and administrative judiciary and the protection of human rights.

Prof. Wiącek will continue to work at the University of Warsaw. Next academic year, he will conduct seminars for students on civil rights, liberties and human rights.

The new Ombudsman graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw; he is also a graduate of the American Law Center. In 2009 he presented his doctoral thesis on the legal question of the court to the Constitutional Tribunal. In 2013, he obtained the academic title of associated professor.
