Dr Oskar Rojewski from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia is one of the winners of the 21st competition for Scientific Awards of the Polityka weekly. The scientist won the final award in the humanities category.

The Polityka Awards is a scholarship program whose main goal is to promote the scientific achievements of young scientists in Poland. Laureates are selected in two stages: first by the professors’ jury, and then by the citizens’ jury. Five winners were selected from among the fifteen finalists.

In his research, Dr Oskar Rojewski deals with the iconography of authorities’ power in the 15th and 16th centuries, the issues of the position of artists at European courts, ephemeral decorations during court ceremonies and the migrations of Flemish and Dutch painters. He was a laureate of the prestigious Start scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science, as well as the competition “Freedom of research” under the Research Excellence Initiative program.
