10.05.2021

Dr Eng. Jerzy Łątka from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology won the ninth FameLab Poland – a competition for science popularizers. In the final part, Dr Łątka talked about paper architecture – especially its aid aspect, i.e. creating houses made of paper for victims of natural disasters and military conflicts.

The scientist from the Department of Architecture and Visual Arts was awarded for his joyful freedom of expression and for showing science in everyday ordinary material, for an important topic related to ecology and waste management as well as social issues – said the jury in the justification.

FameLab is an international competition for students, scientists and people involved in applying science in everyday life. The participants present the selected scientific issue to the audience on the stage. They have only three minutes to present their idea with only those props that they can bring to the stage themselves.
