Scientists from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań (UAM) and the University of Life Sciences in Poznań will investigate “stress-resistant city”. Researchers will analyze the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The research will be conducted by specialists in the field of socio-economic geography, spatial planning, town planning and architecture, as well as neurobiology, physiology and psychology. Scientists will try to answer how the city’s functioning can affect our life and health, and whether our lifestyle affects the city’s functioning.

“This is all the more important as the increased levels of stress from a pandemic are likely to continue even after the virus threat has subsided. In order to ensure a lasting and sustainable development, cities and their inhabitants have to adapt to new conditions and develop permanent mechanisms of resistance to stress”, says the project manager, Prof. Lidia Mierzejewska.
