Scientists from the Lodz University of Technology working on an innovative orthopedic device

04.11.2021

Researchers from the Institute of Machine Tools and Construction Technology of the Lodz University of Technology together with Robotic Medical Solutions will develop an orthopedic miniature measuring arm for intraoperative measurements. The project received over PLN 3.8 million in funding from the European Union.

The main part of the research conducted by scientists from Lodz includes medical experiments allowing to verify the correctness of the attachment and operation of the arm. Designs of specialized stands for calibration and testing of arms during serial production as well as technological equipment for this production will also be developed and verified on prototypes.

-Our goal is to design, implement and manufacture an innovative medical device. In the project, we will conduct metrological research and medical experiments that will allow us to develop the design and software of an orthopedic miniature measuring arm useful during hip replacement prosthesis surgery – said the project manager, Prof. Leszek Podsękowski from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Lodz University of Technology.
