28.08.2018

Polish scientists from the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw described the mechanism of defense against so-called jumping genes (retrotransposons), i.e. DNA fragments that are specific parasites in cells. Their article was published in the scientific journal “Cell” – one of the most prestigious scientific magazines in the world.

As the National Science Center emphasizes, this is the second Polish publication in this periodical in history.
Scientists of the Polish Academy of Sciences headed by Prof. Andrzej Dziembowski conducted their research thanks to financial support from the National Science Center, grants from the European Science Council and the Foundation for Polish Science.
