StethoMe, an electronic wireless stethoscope developed by scientists from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, won the Economic Award of the President of the Republic of Poland and the Teraz Polska promotional emblem. The authors of the invention are researchers from the Department of Acoustics – Dr Jędrzej Kociński and Dr Honorata Hafke-Dys.
The electronic wireless stethoscope is integrated with a mobile application and artificial intelligence algorithms that identify sounds appearing, e.g. in the course of infection, pneumonia or asthma. The device is intended for a patient who can determine at home whether the sounds generated in the respiratory system and by the heart are normal.
Performing a precise lung examination at home is possible thanks to the use of unique technologies that ensure the quality control of the examination, which is based on AI algorithms. The system also informs about too much noise in the room and stops the recording until the disturbance disappears.
