An interdisciplinary team of chemists from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń was awarded in the annual competition “Eureka! DGP” for an innovative method of obtaining three-dimensional graphene roses. This is another success of scientists working on graphene.
The invention is an oil-free and laser-free method of obtaining graphene roses using water suspensions of commonly available graphite. The proposed material may allow improving the process of generating electricity in supercapacitors, fuel cells or photovoltaic cells.
The invention solves many of the problems faced by energy technology today, especially electricity storage. The high, thermal and electrical conductivity of graphene may replace silicon in electronics in the future, which will enable further miniaturization of electronic equipment.
