Scientists of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology have developed a measuring device to detect varroosis – a bee disease caused by mites. The device is fully automated, easy to operate and can be used even in difficult field conditions.
The project “Development of innovative, intelligent tools for monitoring the occurrence of American foulbrood and increased level of infestation with Varroa destructor in honey bee colonies” is carried out by the consortium of Comtegra S.A., Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the Department of Apiculture of the University of Warmia and Mazury.
As part of the project, the scientists have developed a measuring instrument consisting of blocks that performs the following functions: sampling of internal air; measuring signal generation and conditioning; data acquisition, transmission and archiving; identification of the class of tested gases; internal control of the device and calibration.
