A student Mars rover from Wrocław University of Science and Technology has won an international competition in Turkey for the second year in a row. At the Anatolian Rover Challenge, Scorpio 7 won eight awards, including three gold medals in various categories.

The prize for the winning team is quite unusual. A photo of the students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology – as announced by the competition organisers – is to be hung in the International Space Station (ISS).

The Wrocław students returned to Poland with three gold medals and special prizes: for the best robotic arm, the best suspension and the best-designed scientific study to detect the presence of life. The team also took second place in the autonomous rover driving competition.

The Anatolian Rover Challenge is the Turkish series of international rover competitions constructed by students. There, the vehicles perform a series of missions on terrain that mimics both Martian and lunar conditions.
