The Medical University of Silesia in Katowice has been nominated by the Minister of Health as the Competent Authority for joint activities in the prevention of chronic diseases and oncological health determinants.

The activities will be carried out under the programme Cancer and other NCDs prevention – action on health determinant. This is the largest public health initiative to date and will aim to reduce the incidence, improve detection and monitoring of chronic and oncological diseases.

The programme will support the identification and implementation of best practices (by testing disease prevention and health promotion interventions at population level – pilot tests), the definition of public health guidelines, the technical preparation and implementation of new policy approaches and the reduction of health inequalities.
