The Silesian University of Technology has been included in an international consortium that has received project funding from the National Centre for Research and Development to conduct research on increasing the efficiency of aircraft engine turbines for climate neutrality.

The project will focus on coating thermal barriers for environmentally friendly applications related to the conversion of heat into energy, which will allow us to understand the limitations of hydrogen combustion conditions and explore the prospect of sustainability. It aims to answer the question of how to increase the efficiency of aircraft engines while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The international consortium of the project consists of five units – Łukasiewicz-Upper Silesian Institute of Technology, Silesian University of Technology and AvioAero – and two foreign partners – MINES Paris from France and Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS from Germany. All work will be carried out simultaneously in Polish, French and German laboratories.
