Silesian University of Technology will implement the i-Weld Project (Integration of advanced experiments, computation and data for Duplex Stainless Steel joining Innovation). Researchers will conduct research on duplex stainless steel welding using a modern data exchange system.
The aim of the project financed from the Horizon 2020 program as part of the Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) scheme is the development of new materials and processing processes. Within its framework, optimal welding conditions will be established ensuring high mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The obtained data will then be used to develop a new manufacturing technology.
The coordinator of the project is the John Moores University in Liverpool, at the Silesian University of Technology, the research will be coordinated by Dr Eng Zbigniew Brytan from the mechanical mechanical department.
