Silesian University researcher wins the STEM Impact Award

Dr Agata Daszkowska-Golec, Professor at the University of Silesia, has been awarded the Fulbright Commission’s 2023/2024 STEM Impact Award.

The Fulbright Programme is the US government’s flagship programme for international scientific, educational and cultural exchange. It offers passionate and talented students and scholars in more than 160 countries the opportunity to study, teach, conduct research and exchange ideas.

The STEM Impact Award Fellowships are designed for young male and female leaders in STEM disciplines with a significant academic record. The programme is aimed at those leading research projects in STEM areas, employed at Polish academic and scientific institutions.

The winner will work at the University of Minnesota in the group of Prof Gary Muehlbauer, who is a leading authority in the field of plant genetics, especially in the context of barley biology – the main focus of her research.
