IT specialists of the Lodz University of Technology in cooperation with doctors and caregivers have designed a smart drug dispenser for elderly people who often forget to take tablets on time.

The authors of the smart dispenser are students of the UbiCOMP research club and employees of the Institute of Applied Computer Science of the TUL Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science and Automation.

The solution, which was awarded a bronze medal at the recently concluded International Warsaw Invention Show IWIS, is managed via the website.

According to the authors of the system, the device is easy to use and helps to take medications properly. The system informs the users when they need to take the drug with LEDs and sound. The programmable dispenser uses data entered by the user, and the mobile application connected to the device allows caregivers to monitor the treatment remotely.
