17.09.2020

This year’s 24th Science Festival in Warsaw will take place from 18 to 27 September. As part of the event, the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and the EDU-ARCTIC.PL project has prepared a conference on polar world called “Science opens the door – visit to the Geophysical Observatory in Świder”.

The attractions will include a polar exhibition, where viewers will be able to see the measuring instruments used in Arctic research and the everyday equipment necessary for polar explorers to survive in extreme conditions.

They will also be able to listen to stories about the extraordinary life and work at the Polish Polar Station Hornsund in Spitsbergen.

In addition, a mini-museum of measuring instruments will be opened. There, the participants will be able to learn the history of the first magnetic observatory in Świder in Poland and find out why continuous observations and measurements around the globe are necessary.
