26.01.2021

Oliwia Otręba, a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, won the Scholarship of Prof. Wanda Telakowska within the Young Design 2020 competition – the first program in Poland intended for students and graduates of universities in the field of design.

The winner was awarded for Cover Voronoi – a flexible overlay for a prosthetic lower limb. The overlay not only covers the prosthesis components, but also provides a shape to simulate a healthy leg, which is especially desirable by users when wearing long trousers. The cover is distinguished by the method of attachment, which makes the product one-piece and does not move during everyday use.

Klaudia Żmuda, a graduate of the University of Katowice, also received an award in the competition, which aims to identify the most promising designers of the young generation. The competition jury appreciated the design of the telemedicine device housing enabling remote ultrasound examination of the patient.
