The project of Maria Barda, a student of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, won the second prize in the “You’re ON” competition organized in Spain. The concept of a wooden workshop center in the historic part of Stockholm is the winner’s diploma engineering work. Almost 400 works from all over the world were sent to the competition.
The wooden building would have six floors, with one underground floor. The ground floor would be the core of the building (it allows the surrounding square to be open). The next floor would be a free space to showcase items made by visitors or exhibits by professional craftsmen and designers. There would also be a self-service cafe area with coffee machines and small snacks.
The next levels are mezzanines limited by glass railings. They would be adjoined by “blobs”, i.e. separate workshop work zones adapted to work in small groups, and also a space for individual work on the top floor.
