Students of the Academic Secondary School of Wrocław University of Technology designed a space mini-probe

18.03.2021

Students of the Academic Secondary School of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology designed a mini-probe to test the intensity of cosmic rays using a digital Geiger-Mueller counter of their own design. They took part in the CanSat 2021 competition presenting their project.

The project involved measuring the intensity of cosmic rays using a digital Geiger-Mueller counter of own design. The students wanted to observe the decrease in radiation intensity during the flight towards the ground.

CanSat is an international competition of the European Space Agency, which consists in independently constructing mini-satellites by students and conducting scientific research. The mini-satellites fit in a soda can. Their task is to conduct research and experiments during a rocket flight, and then during parachute descent.

The national part of the competition is coordinated by the ESERO-Polska Space Education Office at the Copernicus Science Center.
