18.09.2018

Sylwia Pogodzińska and Dawid Dudek from the Krakow University of Technology have won the international Young Europeans Acting for Road Safety (YEARS) competition. The European Transport Safety Council has awarded their project of the reconstruction of a dangerous pedestrian crossing at Okulicki Street in Krakow.

This year’s competition was attended by 43 teams from all over Europe. Apart from the team from Krakow, the teams from Milan, Naples and Vilnius were awarded. The YEARS competition is addressed to young European engineers working to improve road safety.

– It’s really inspiring when you see how these young people deal with security issues on their own. They identified dangerous places by thoroughly examining data, designed innovative solutions, sought support for the project and tried to publicize it in the media – said Antonio Avenoso, Director of the European Transport Safety Council.
