The Student Science Club Silesia Racing operating at the Silesian University of Technology is implementing a project dedicated to traditional and electric bicycles, which are an important element of eco and electromobility.
The aim is to characterize the traction and utility properties of traditional and electric bicycles in the context of the needs of individual urban transport. The Silesia Racing team will characterize the advantages and disadvantages of the use of electric bikes and compare their use to the use of traditional bikes.
The project is part of the Priority Research Area 4: smart cities and future mobility and was awarded in the competition under the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” program. Its results may support the design of bike-sharing systems (city bike rentals) and Park & Ride (changing the car to a bicycle when entering the city or agglomeration).
