Students of genetics and experimental biology from the Faculty of Biology of the University of Gdańsk have developed an online Polish-English dictionary of biological terms. It contains nearly 3 thousand terms ranging from biochemistry to ecology. The digital publication fills the gap in the field of Polish specialized scientific translation.
The dictionary includes both singular and plural, as well as regular and irregular forms. The uncountability is also marked. English synonyms and spelling variants of the expressions are included for many of the translations. Each term has an English definition to indicate whether the translation is appropriate for the context requested.
Students from the departments of mathematics, physics and computer science (website preparation) and social sciences (interface development) were also involved in the work on the dictionary. The authors are also planning to publish a book.
