Students of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin reach the semi-finals of the “Great Energy Challenge” competition

16.06.2021

The interdisciplinary team of students of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin became one of 51 semi-finalists of the “Great Challenge: Energy” – competition of the National Center for Research and Development.

The task is to develop a compact device for individual use, capable of converting wind energy into electricity and storing it in the most efficient way. This will reduce smog and greenhouse gas emissions as well as increase the use of renewable energy sources.

To implement their idea, young scientists designed the generator, control system, energy storage system and the entire mechanical system. The compact power plant of the “SZCZECIN SQUAD” team will have a system for storing electricity in the form of a battery bank, which will be managed by the power electronic control and distribution system of electricity.
