First-year medical students of the Medical University of Gdańsk (GUMed): Bogdan Jabłoński, Oliwia Raniszewska and Wiktoria Sadowska took second place in the E(x)plory Scientific Competition with their project “Skin Preventer – a system for supporting the diagnosis of skin lesions”. The national final of the competition was held at the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia.

Skin Preventer is a project started by current students while they were still studying at the University High School in Toruń. As part of it, students are working on a solution that classifies skin lesions based on neural networks they have written and trained.

Current first-year GUMed medical students also qualified for the national final of the competition while still in secondary school: Julia Hajduk, Dominika Wołek and Alicja Lemańska, authors of the project ‘Ecological horse bridle made of bamboo’, and Alicja Piszko from the team of creators of the project ‘How to strengthen ice and reduce the damaging effect of freezing’.
