The ACI Student Chapter team from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the West Pomeranian University of Technology has won the international competition to design bowling balls made of concrete – FRC Bowling Ball 2023, which took place in the United States.

The FCR Bowling Ball is an international scientific competition for students, which was held in early April in San Francisco during the American Concrete Institute convention.

This year’s competition attracted 33 teams from around the world, including the US, Canada, Mexico, India and Taiwan. The challenge of the competition was to design and construct a bowling ball from a special concrete mixture with fibres. The victory of the Polish team was the biggest sensation of this year’s convention – the Szczecin students beat teams from renowned American universities. Further places on the podium were taken by students from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
