The team of the Academic Aviation Club of the Poznan University of Technology won three gold medals at the Professionals Competition of the Society of Automotive Engineers SAE Aero Design West 2018 in Los Angeles.
Participants build unmanned aircraft in accordance with the restrictions and requirements of the contest. This year, the students’ task was to design and build an aircraft that, with the lowest possible own mass, would transport the maximum weight. The rules of the competition defined the material of the plane and the type and power of the drive.
Poznań students won in the Regular class, where other 37 teams competed, including USA, Canada, India, Mexico, Egypt and China.
SAE Aero Design is an international academic competition organized for over 30 years by the American Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in cooperation with with SolidWorks, Lockheed Martin or ANSYS.
