The Pomeranian Medical University (PUM) in Szczecin has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN) for the investment ‘Expansion of the MCD-3 building of the PUM in Szczecin to include a Tissue and Cell Bank and a Pharmaceutical Plant’.

The reason for the investment is the need for the research units of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical Biotechnology and Laboratory Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry to develop innovative production processes for medicinal substances under controlled conditions, in accordance with the so-called Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

The unit will be created by adding a two-storey building to the building of the Interdepartmental Teaching Centre No. 3 of the PUM, which has the necessary equipment, connections and landscaping. The value of the investment is PLN 15 million, including PLN 6.5 million in funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In addition, the university is planning to apply for funding for renewable energy sources to the tune of around PLN 2.5 million.
