A training wind turbine has been commissioned at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Maritime University of Technology (PM) in Szczecin. It is a 20-metre-long facility, unique in the country, which will be used to train students in a new and unique field of study in Poland – industrial engineering and offshore wind power.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about electrical or mechanical issues, as well as learn the principles of work safety and methods of servicing this type of equipment. A fully operational and equipped turbine will provide both theoretical and practical knowledge.

‘What you see is not a model, but an actual turbine on which students will be educated, the only engineering course in Poland specialising in offshore wind power plants. The turbine has all the mechanisms that, with the use of electricity, will be put into operation and will serve the young people in their studies’, says the Vice-Chancellor for Science, Dr Artur Bejger, Professor PM.
