From 17 April it will be possible to enrol for the course Logopedia with Audiology at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. It is the only course of this kind with a practical profile in Poland.

Classes are taught by the staff of the Department of Logopaedics and Applied Linguistics at the UMCS (the oldest academic institution in the country dealing with speech disorders) and the staff of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Warsaw. Under the direction of Professor Henryk Skarżyński, this institute has gained a worldwide reputation for restoring hearing to deaf people through cochlear implants.

As Maria Curie-Sklodowska University points out, graduates receive professional preparation that meets European standards for the training of speech therapists, as defined by ESLA (European Speech and Language Therapy Association).

They are fully prepared to diagnose and carry out therapy of speech and hearing disorders at the level of general counselling in educational institutions (kindergartens, primary and secondary mass schools) and health care institutions of the outpatient type (speech therapy clinics, audiological, phoniatric, otolaryngological clinics), social welfare homes.
