University of Gdańsk researcher a finalist of the Lirene Competition “Woman. Innovation. Nature”

Dr Agnieszka Gajewicz-Skrętna from the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk became a finalist of the Lirene Competition- “Woman. Innovation. Nature”. The researcher is developing new computer tools supporting chemical risk assessment, which minimize the number of animals used for research and reduce the time and cost of research as well as the amount of waste generated.

The creators of the cosmetic brand Lirene would like to award activists, innovators and entrepreneurs who work for the environment and shape a better future with their everyday work. Over 200 women representing three areas: Business, Lifestyle and Science competed. The researcher from the University of Gdańsk is one of three finalists in the Science category.

The finalist’s scientific interests include the development and application of machine learning methods, statistical and chemometric methods supporting the computer chemical safety assessment process.
