The project ‘AOP-Anchored in silico-based NAMs for design safer multicomponent nanomaterials’ led by scientists from the Laboratory of Environmental Chemoinformatics at the University of Gdansk has been nominated as one of nine projects from around the world for the Lush Prize 2024 in the ‘Science’ category.

The finalists of the Lush Prize believe that in the next 30-50 years, the computer-based methods they are implementing will fully transfer ethically questionable animal research from traditional laboratories to virtual space.

The competition selected 55 projects from around the world in 10 categories. The main aim of the competition is to promote efforts to replace animal testing with biologically relevant, non-animal science and public awareness campaigns to draw attention to the issue. The Lush awards judging panel will meet in February to select the winning projects to share the £250,000 prize pot.
