The University of Lower Silesia was admitted to the group of signatories of the international declaration Magna Charta Universitatum. Its community includes almost 1,000 universities from all over the world. The University of Lower Silesia joins this group, confirming its academic profile. 

The Magna Charta formulates values ​​and principles that are followed and implemented by its signatories: independence of research and science from political influence and economic interests; the inseparability of research and science and the involvement of students in the search for knowledge, free dialogue and open, tolerant academic debates.

The Charter in the renewed version from 2020 emphasizes the universal principles, values ​​and obligations that are implemented in all aspects of academic life – in openness and tolerance, autonomy, freedom and integrity in research, commitment, sustainable development and in the exercising the right to learn for a lifetime.
