The University of Silesia in Katowice was assessed as the seventh scientific institution in Poland, and the fifth among Polish universities, in the Nature Index in terms of the publishing activity of scientists in prestigious world magazines in the field of exact and natural sciences.

The ranking took into account the number of articles published in selected magazines, whose co-authors represented individual institutions, and the fractional count (FC) indicator, including the number of institutions represented by all co-authors of a given article.

The ranking gathers data from 82 major magazines – including “Nature”, “Science” or “Physical Review A”. The ranking opens access to the most current research results carried out at the highest level by scientists from around the world. It also provides information on cooperation undertaken by researchers at institutional, national and regional levels.
