The University of Silesia has been ranked 18th in the Global 2000 national ranking list of 40 institutions published by the Center for World University Rankings. This year’s ranking identified the top 2,000 universities from around the world and assessed 2,531 research centres and institutions. 

The Global 2000 list has been published since 2012 by the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR), based in the United Arab Emirates.

CWUR prepares the ranking on the basis of four criteria, without relying on surveys or data submitted by universities. They are quality of education (25 %), success and employment of graduates (25 %), quality of faculties (10 %), and research output, including effectiveness, number of articles published in top journals, impact and citations (40 %).
