24.06.2021

From the new academic year, the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn is launching a new study Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Geoengineering.

It is an interdisciplinary study that combines geodesy, geography, IT, geographic information systems (GIS), construction, BIM (Building Information Modeling) systems, as well as environmental engineering.

Launching this field of study is a response to the demand in the labor market. Its graduates will be able to work as geoinformatics specialists, data collection system operators and designers, analysts or software developers, programmers or database administrators, operators or analysts using GIS software, or specialists in the field of 3D data processing and modelling.

Geoinformatics students will learn how to develop websites such as google maps or geoportal.gov.pl, how car navigation works and how to build their own web services and mobile applications based on maps. They will also gain knowledge and skills in programming basics, the use of GIS and BIM systems, as well as 3D object modelling.
