The Biomass Conversion Laboratory will be officially opened at the Department of Fundamentals of Engineering and Energy of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) on 25 April 2023. The new unit will enable research and development work on broadly understood innovative green conversion technologies for herbaceous and woody biomass.
The main innovation of the Laboratory is a specially designed hydraulic installation that allows performance testing of various types of heating equipment under controlled conditions.
During operational tests, it is possible, among other things, to regulate the heat load of the tested device as a function of the supply temperature of the power take-off circuits, to regulate the flow of the heating medium through the tested heating device, as well as to regulate the chimney draught. An innovation on a national scale is the possibility of carrying out performance tests on a heating appliance for a specific building with a variable heat load over time.
