Anna Rutz, Plenipotentiary for Students with Disabilities at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, was the first person in Poland to receive the Willy Aastrup Award for lifetime achievement in accessibility.
The award is given in particular for her consistency in creating and developing effective educational support programmes for people with disabilities and multiple needs, and her steadfastness in the fight against all barriers, especially in opposing disability stereotypes, those still present in academia as well as those that operate in society.
Willy Aastrup is a Danish philosopher and long-standing director of the Centre for Counselling and Support at the University of Aarhus, who has supported the community of people involved in accessibility processes at Polish universities with his knowledge and experience for almost two decades. The award means also a financial support.
