Dr Agnieszka Piekarska, Department and Clinic of Hematology and Transplantology of the Medical University of Gdańsk has published the work “Immune status against hepatitis B in patients after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation – factors affecting early and long-lasting maintenance of protective anti-HBs titers” in the journal Frontiers in Immunology.
The publication presents the immunological aspects affecting the post-vaccination response and its maintenance in patients after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation, and shows a significant influence of adoptive transfer of donor immunity. The author proposes individualized regimen of active immunization after transplantation, tailored to the serological response and the presence of graft-versus-host disease.
