Wrocław University of Science and Technology researchers developing a home wastewater retention and treatment system

25.10.2021

Researchers from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology are working on building solutions that use rainwater. The houses do not need to be connected to the water supply and sewage system. For the implementation of the project, the scientists received PLN 2.3 million from the National Center for Research and Development as part of the “Home Retention Technologies” competition.

Scientists from the departments of environmental and mechanical and energy engineering at the Wrocław University of Technology proposed to create a system of devices and tanks that will collect, store, treat and use rainwater for everyday tasks.

The home retention system will be automated, energy-saving and virtually maintenance-free, safe for users and environmentally friendly. It will constitute a link in the sustainable development of urbanized areas, improving water availability without harming the environment. The monitoring of water quality parameters will also be fully automated, which will allow to remotely diagnose the operation of the system and quickly detect problems.
