Dr Szymon Zelewski from the Faculty of Fundamental Technological Problems at Wrocław University of Science and Technology has participated in the development of a high-brightness, high-performance LED. The results of the research were published in the prestigious journal Nature.
An international team, of which Dr Zelewski is a member, has developed a light-emitting diode (LED) with high energy conversion efficiency and brightness, in which the light-emitting layer is made of hybrid perovskite (formamidine lead iodide, FAPbI3).
The development of this technology was undertaken – as part of a project by Prof Neil Greenham at the University of Cambridge – by several teams belonging to the Optoelectronics group at the Cavendish Laboratory. This group has led the way in the development of next-generation light-emitting diodes for many years. It is here that the most cited publications in history have been produced on the subject of OLEDs, initiated and continued to this day by Professor Sir Richard Friend of the University of Cambridge.
