Wrocław University of Science and Technology to develop a micro-lever with a diamond blade

20.09.2021

PhD students and students from the Department of Nanometrology of the Wrocław University of Technology are developing a micro-lever with a diamond blade. It will serve for surface studies at the atomic level. The project is implemented by members of the SPENT Nanotechnology Enthusiasts Association. It is financed under the ministerial program “Student research clubs create innovations”.

Young scientists are developing a measuring system, with the use of a microscopic lever. It is approximately 200 microns long, 50 microns wide and 0.5 microns thick and is equipped with a diamond blade. Scientists decided to use a diamond because such a solution primarily ensures the durability of the “tool” and more precise measurements.

Within the project, Wrocław scientists will collaborate with researchers from the Technical University in Ilmenau (Germany), Gdańsk University of Technology and the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics in Warsaw.
