Wrocław University of Technology launches Center for Sustainable Development and Climate Protection

16.12.2020

The Center for Sustainable Development and Climate Protection was launched at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The organization’s immediate plans include a zero-emission campus, a mobility program encouraging people to come to the university by bike or car, educational initiatives and voting for the academic community.

The new unit will support the university in its pursuit of being green and ecological. The idea is to synchronize and combine activities already in progress as well as initiate and stimulate new ones. This will make it possible to verify what are the greatest needs and the direction of further development of the university.

– Even now, even though we are only at the beginning of our diagnosis, we are taking the first steps in the right direction as a university, moving away from coal. Wrocław University of Science and Technology has just signed an agreement under which, from next year, it will be supplied with energy from thermal waste treatment, says the director of the Center, Dr Eng. Izabella Sówka, Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
