Dr Mateusz Dyksik, from the Faculty of Fundamental Technological Research, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, has won an award from the European Magnetic Field Laboratory for his research using a strong magnetic field. These were related to the discovery of unknown properties of two-dimensional perovskites.

The laureate was recognised for using a unique combination of low-temperature optical spectroscopy in a strong pulsed magnetic field to study the properties of two-dimensional perovskites.

Two-dimensional perovskites have been a group of some of the most intensively studied materials in recent years. This is due to their unique optical properties, which make perovskites extremely promising in the context of applications in photovoltaic devices as well as light emitters.
