Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University to develop Technology of hazardous waste recovery

Scientists of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw will develop a study Technology for the recovery of hazardous waste, which will become secondary raw materials.

It is about wooden railway boards, tele-energy poles and the soil around them contaminated with petroleum substances (creosote oil). They will be cleaned in a physico-biological process using biomass of selected microorganisms. The final product will be cleaned wood that will be reused in the industry.

The project will be carried out by the Interdepartmental Department of Environmental Biotechnology and Bioeconomy of the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Sciences of the UKSW as part of the Tech-Inno-Med company, whose task is to strengthen cooperation between the UKSW and the socio-economic environment by implementing innovative solutions to the economy and commercialization of research. The project value is over PLN 380 thousand PLN.
