Scientific Publisher PWN to hold Competition for Youth Word of the Year

18.10.2021

The sixth Youth Word of the Year competition will be organized by the Scientific Publisher PWN in cooperation with the University of Warsaw (UW). Its aim is to identify the most popular words, terms or expressions used by young people. The competition is supervised by the Jury chaired by Prof. Marek Łaziński from the Institute of Polish Language, University of Warsaw.

This year’s competition will be organized in a refreshed form. Voting for the Youth Word of the Year will take place in two stages, and the Jury Prize will be awarded for words outstanding in terms of originality and accuracy.

Until November 7, participants may submit proposals for competition words along with an explanation of their meaning via the form available at sjp.pwn.pl. Then the Jury will analyze the submitted applications and on November 15 will present the final twenty words.

Along with the publication of the final list, the voting will be launched to select one word from the final list, which deserves to be called the Youth Word of the Year 2021. This stage of the competition will end at midnight on November 30.
