Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Wrocław became silver medalists of the World Academic Championships in Team Programming and European Champions. 119 teams representing leading universities from all continents competed in the competition in Moscow.
The team consisting of: Anadi Agrawal, Jarosław Kwiecień and Adam Zyzik took 5th place, winning a silver medal (the first 4 places received gold medals, places 5-8 – silver, and 9-12 – bronze medals). The Wrocław team from, as the best from Europe, won the title of the continent’s champion.
Championship participants were grouped in teams of three and solved algorithmic tasks. In the great hall, roughly 120 teams usually program for 5 hours. The team that solves the most tasks- wins.
The competitions have been held for over 50 years. Initially, they were limited to American universities, but gradually expanded and today they are the most prestigious IT competitions with the status of the world championships.
